Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Spicer

I grew up in Rhode Island and have been a Tennessee transplant for over ten years now. The joy of facebook has kept me connected with my old friends, but it’s just not the same as a phone call and a personal connection. So, I was thrilled and delighted to answer the phone at our studio last spring and here a familiar voice on the other end say, “Nyberg!” {my maiden name}—I felt like I was sixteen all over again. It was my dear old high school buddy, Ryan Spicer… and he was getting married. In Sweden! His beautiful bride, Emma, is Swedish born and raised. They met while she was doing some work in New York City (the city he currently calls home) and they never turned back.

First, they needed a save the date. Emma wanted something clean and simple with a nod to the nautical. Since they’re such an adorable couple, it seemed clear that they needed to use a picture!

The picture was perfect… ocean in the background and both Emma and Ryan in casual, summer style. The photo paired perfectly with the clean and crisp design.

A few months later, I heard from Ryan again, this time regarding their invitation suite. Again, they wanted something very simple, light and airy. They didn’t want many parts and pieces… just a streamlined piece that gave all of the information necessary. The only catch: it had to be in both English and Swedish. I love a good bilingual invitation—it always throws spellcheck haywire!

We utilized a blue, brown and white palette. A bluebell envelope paired well with navy and chocolate ink. In order to maintain balance and a proper hierarchy of type, we set all English in all caps and all Swedish in italics. This broke up the page in such a way that it was readable and manageable.

THE REAL WEDDING OF EMMA + RYAN

Emma finds a quiet moment before the ceremony begins.

Pea gravel underfoot, water right by your side, salt in the air, champagne in hand… What more can you ask for?

A help-yourself bar makes it easy for guests to grab what they’d like.

When darkness falls, one tiny guest gets cozy and snuggled in…

Congratulations, Emma and Ryan! Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day.

Wishing you happiness and love now and forevermore!
